LCBO supports local charity
Starting Aug. 1, you can help children who are seriously ill by making a donation at your local LCBO store.
Donation boxes for the Jennifer Ashleigh Children’s Charity (JACC) will be clearly displayed on the LCBO checkout counters until Aug. 31.
Funds raised will help families in this community and throughout Ontario with expenses arising from their children’s illness. JACC’s mission is to improve the quality of life for seriously ill children and their families when love is not enough.
“I’ll never forget how it felt to sit for hours beside my baby in the hospital’s newborn intensive care unit”, said Zoë’s mom. Zoë was born with a birth defect which required her to remain in intensive care for two and a half months before she was well enough to go home.
“We want to thank the Jennifer Ashleigh Children’s Charity for the financial support to our family to assist with emergency household bills during this hard time when we needed it the most,” said her mom.
JACC is a registered charity established in 1990 by Stouffville Country Market owner Norm Clements in memory of his granddaughter, who died at six months of age from a degenerative disease. The charity is unique in several ways: it is not illness or disease specific; it assists children from birth to 21 years of age; it fills the gap where other charities leave off and it acts as a safety net when all other resources have been exhausted.
“We thank the LCBO, its employees and customers for providing this wonderful opportunity,” said Jane Sleep, JACC’s executive director. “The LCBO’s province-wide store network is truly an effective way to raise awareness and funds for the JACC children.”
“We are pleased to partner with the Jennifer Ashleigh Children’s Charity,” said LCBO chair Philip J. Olsson. “LCBO’s customers have always responded generously to worthy causes and we thank them for providing a positive change in so many people’s lives.”
