A Dickens of a Christmas
Charles Dickens’ moving tale of miserly greed, poverty and redemption comes to vibrant life in Motus O dance theatre’s A Christmas Carol on Dec. 28 at Markham Theatre.
The Stouffville-based collective weaves together a unique blend of dance, theatre, athleticism, wit and joyful exuberance to recreate this seasonal classic. On a gloomy Christmas Eve, Ebenezer Scrooge, a heartless, penny-pinching man who has lost touch with his own humanity, is visited by his old colleague Jacob Marley and the ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Future.
In the course of one traumatic night, Scrooge is transformed from a selfish ogre into a caring benefactor, providing Christmas cheer and financial help to the family of his impoverished clerk, Bob Cratchit. A Christmas Carol is a thoughtful and delightful adaptation which will appeal to the whole family.
The performance is at 2 p.m. on Dec. 28 and tickets are available from Markham Theatre at 905-305-7469.
