Rallying around a good cause
The Cross Country Ramble Scramble Car Rally for Dimes is an innovative fundraiser with the emphasis on fun.
On May 24 at 10 a.m., participants will meet in Aurora to register and pick up a package of information containing directions to guide them as they wind their way through the scenic wonders of the Oak Ridges Moraine towards their final destination in Newmarket. The package will also contain some simple challenges and questions to add to the enjoyment of a beautiful day out. And you don’t need to worry about getting lost: everyone will receive a panic envelope, with phone numbers to call if their orienteering skills let them down.
At the end of the rally, everyone will meet up at Cedar Beach Pavilion on Musselman’s Lake for a delicious country dinner, silent and live auctions and great musical entertainment. A chauffeur driven motor home tour of Niagara wineries for four is among the many great prizes to be auctioned off at the event.
What’s more, it’s a unique opportunity to vie for the inaugural Rick LeBlanc Trophy, donated by Ruth LeBlanc. This special prize will be awarded to the rally team with the best decorated vehicle, the best dressed driver and navigator, the best (or worst) behaved team and the best bribery techniques.
Tickets are $95 for each team of two people and include lunch and dinner. Proceeds from the event go to the March of Dimes Canada. For more information or to register a team, call Jack Brice at 905-642-2632 or send him an email at rockbrice@hotmail.com.
