You Asked For It!

That’s the name of the 2009 exhibit at Whitchurch-Stouffville Museum, which opens May 15.

Museum curator Stephanie Foley visited several grade 3 classes at the end of last year and asked for students’ help in planning the exhibit. “We wanted to know what they would ask an early settler living in Whitchurch-Stouffville, if they could ask them anything they wanted,” she explained.

Questions ranged from living conditions, politics and family traditions to school life, pets, toys, survival and career choices for boys and girls. The result provides a fascinating overview of the community’s roots and rural life in the nineteenth century. The exhibit continues until September.
