A memorable visit
To the Editor:
Recently we had the pleasure of returning to Stouffville for a visit from Vernon, British Columbia. It had been 19 years since we left our lovely home, town and our many friends and neighbours.
It was great fun to wander the streets of old historical homes and buildings. We were pleased to see many of the businesses that we had frequented still operating in the downtown area. We were surprised with the look of the new Main Street, the new schools and the lovely building housing the library and swimming pool.
One of the changes that impressed us the most was the transformation of the former town hall into the beautiful arts centre, Nineteen on the Park. What an exciting addition this venue makes to the town of Stouffville. We truly hope that the citizens will recognize how fortunate they are to have a cultural facility of their own. We enjoyed touring this lovely building and viewed the drawing of the proposed landscaped grounds. What a wonderful opportunity to stroll downtown and enjoy dinner at one of the local restaurants, followed by an evening of entertainment.
We applaud the efforts of those who had the vision for this venture. Stouffville has indeed grown up in the most wonderful way.
