He shoots, he draws
When the Great One’s tears start to flow and the puck hits the boards with a resounding thwack, you look around and find yourself in Hockey Town.
In Stouffville, at the Latcham Gallery, of all places.
Art meets the puck - and all the fun, nuttiness, team loyalties and rivalries that go along with the good ol’ hockey game - in the Latcham Gallery’s next art exhibition starting Feb. 20. Look closely at the recreated rec room showing Wayne Gretzky’s farewell speech, at the landscapes reminiscent of Tom Thomson and those ‘money trees’ in the distance. They’re made of a lot of discarded, formerly smelly, hockey gear, sticks, pucks and humour.
Hockey Town will be in hockey town until April 3.
The exhibition was curated by Sandra Fraser and organized and circulated by the MacLaren Art Centre in Barrie. To find out more, call the gallery at 905-640-8954 or visit www.latchamgallery.ca
