Town Receives $150,000 for Revitalization
The Town of Whitchurch-Stouffville has received a one-time Main Street Ontario grant of $150,000.
The grant, which will be spread over three years, will provide seed funding to increase the economic and social vitality of the downtown core. It will assist with the hiring of a coordinator, who will oversee development, marketing and promotions for the area.
Main Street Ontario is a Provincial government program designed to assist in the revitalization of downtown areas across the province. Last year’s completion of the Lebovic Centre for Arts and Entertainment-Nineteen on the Park, along with the re-design of Civic Square and the establishment of a farmers’ market, are key elements in the renewal of the historic downtown core.
The grant will enable the Town to build on these elements to create a vibrant and appealing destination for residents and visitors alike.
